Pink Floyd were a progressive/psychedelic/art rock English band, formed in 1965, in London.  Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Nick Mason formed the band, and two years later David Gilmour joined them.  Their debut album was released in 1967, named ''The Piper at the Gates of Dawn''.  Syd Barrett left the band one year later because of increasing mental problems, so Roger Waters became the major songwriter of the band.

The albums ''The Dark Side of the Moon''  and ''The Wall'' is the band's most successful albums. Pink Floyd has sold over 250 million copies worldwide. In 1979, Richard Wright left the band, Roger Waters left in 1985. Pink Floyd reunited in 2005 to play in the concert Live 8, although some of the members didn't plan to rejoin the band. Richard Wright died in 2008 and Barrett in 2006.
